Nonlinear seismic fragility analysis of a resilient precast post-tensioned segmental bridge pier

چکیده

The use of precast post-tensioned segmental (PPS) piers is growing in the bridge industry, particularly Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC). To increase their high-seismicity regions, this study focuses on seismic performance PPS under pulse-like near-field earthquakes. Two ensembles 40 ground motions and 44 far-field along with three various heights are used a series incremental dynamic analyses. analysed original motions, extracted pulse corresponding non-pulse motions. It found that effect motion pronounced, when period proximity to natural pier. also seen generally have similar effects response piers.

Precast, Pretensioned, Post-Tensioned Concrete for Bridge Decks

The problem of concrete bridge deck deterioration on many of our newer as well as older bridges is severe, somewhat perplexing as to cause, and difficult to solve. Furthermore, the cost to highway agencies for their repair, and the cost of delay to the highway user, can be extremely large. The use of precast, prestressed concrete for bridge decks is a con cept of construction or reconstruction...

Seismic Retrofit of Bridge Steel Truss Pier Anchorage Connections

In assessments of the seismic adequacy of existing steel bridges, the steel-to-concrete anchorage connections typically found at the base of steel truss piers can be potentially vulnerable, having little to no ductility and inadequate strength to resist seismic demands. Many other non-ductile failure locations may also exist along the seismic load path. Failure would result in unacceptable perf...

Seismic Vulnerability assessment of concrete railway bridge using nonlinear analyses

Bridges, as an essential part of transportation system, play a special role in economy, politic and military all around the world. Serviceability of bridges is of high importance especially in emergencies, helping injured people and proportioning transportation after earthquakes. Earthquake regulation codes, normally suggest linear methods to conduct the analysis, and nonlinear analysis is bare...

Development of Fragility and Reliability Curves and Seismic Vulnerability Evaluation of Talehzang Concrete Bridge

Bridges are potentially one of the most seismically vulnerable structures in the highway system during earthquake &#10 &#10events. It is known that the seismic performance of transportation systems plays a key role in the post-earthquake emergency management. Hence, it is necessary to evaluate both physical and functional aspects of bridge structures. The physical aspects of the seismic perform...

Seismic Testing of a Bridge Steel Truss Pier Designed for Controlled Rocking

Shake table testing of a 1/5 scale model of a slender bridge steel truss pier that uses a controlled rocking approach as a means of seismic protection was conducted. The controlled rocking approach allows the pier to uplift from its base while passive energy dissipation devices steel yielding devices or fluid viscous dampers are implemented across the uplifting location to control the response....
